James 1:25
25 The one who follows the perfect law of freedom, continues to do so, not forgetting what he hears, but doing what he hears - he will be blessed for that.
James stresses the importance of hearing and practicing God's word. He refers to the perfect law of freedom, suggesting that the law of God is a source of freedom and blessing for those who follow it. James encourages believers to continue seeking and applying this law, as the one who does so will be blessed in what he does.
James 1:26
26 If someone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.
James further stresses the importance of controlling our speech in this verse. He warns that if someone considers himself religious and does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, their religion is worthless. James draws attention to the fact that our words have power and build up or tear down. Those who claim to be religious but fail to control their tongue are deceiving themselves, as their actions are against their true beliefs.
These James verses remind us of the importance of hearing and doing God's word. By continually seeking and following the perfect law of freedom and controlling our speech, we can experience true blessings in our Christian Walk.
