I am a huge fan of The Monkees, an iconic American rock band formed in the 1960s mainly because of a television show. I saw him live in concert in Fernandina Beach and Jacksonville. That moment will remain forever in my memory.

Being a mom of Both a Boy and a Girl with Autism
Being a mom of a boy and a girl on the autism spectrum has been an incredible journey filled with love, pride, and admiration for their unique personalities and abilities. My daughter and my son have completely different communication styles, but both manage incredibly well, and I am proud of the progress they have made and the milestones they have achieved.
My daughter, although she does not communicate in the same way as my son, is incredibly intelligent and expresses herself in her own unique way. She might not tell me in detail about her day, but she has her own language and facial expressions always give me a glimpse into her thoughts and emotions. She is amazing.
My wish is that one day, she will be able to tell me whatever is on her mind, just like so many other children her age. For now, I cherish the moments we share, knowing that she understands me better than I could ever imagine.
Both of my children have developmental delays, but they will overcome them. My son has verbal communication skills and can express himself clearly, while my daughter relies on one-word communication. It is fascinating to watch them work together, as they play and entertain each other with hilarious reenactments of their favorite TV shows. Their bond is special and watching them grow side-by-side brings me immense joy.
My son and my daughter are incredibly funny, bright, and remarkable individuals. My Daughter
My daughter was diagnosed with autism when she was four years old. I had my son the same year. I did a lot of autism research. More than I should have done. There were many horror stories. It has been challenging, but worth it. She has come a long way. When she talks, it is with one-word communication. She also has her own language.
My daughter loves all kinds of kids' shows. She can spend hours watching her favorite characters. It helps her relax and unwind. Watching kids shows is also an effective way to learn vocabulary words and concepts.
In addition to speech therapy, my daughter has an individualized education plan (IEP) at her school. This has helped to ensure that she receives the necessary support and accommodation to help her succeed academically.
My daughter is very bright and understands the world around her. I think she knows more than she lets on. It is fascinating watching her.
She is now fourteen years old, and she has grown into a wonderful beautiful young lady. I am so proud of her progress over the years. It has been an incredible journey watching her overcome challenges and reach new milestones.
My son will be ten in July. They have a wonderful bond and get along well together. He is also on the spectrum but communicates well. Both are amazing in different ways.
My son has delays, but he will overcome them and reach his full potential. They both remind me every day that autism is not a limitation, but rather an individual set of strengths and abilities.
Having a child with autism can be challenging, but also incredibly rewarding. My daughter and son teach me resilience, patience, and love. I am forever grateful for my children and the positive effect they have on my life.
